[EN] The album’s title comes from a line in «Into the Music,» written for her mentor Hugh Fraser and her uncle Joe Edmonds, both of whom passed away during the pandemic. «Hugh used to say, ‘I’m just so into the music,'» Heather recalls. Each song seems to grow from that sentence, to live in the music, until sound itself becomes shelter.
[ES] El título del disco toma una línea de “Into the Music”, una composición dedicada a su mentor Hugh Fraser y a su tío Joe Edmonds, ambos fallecidos durante la pandemia. “Hugh solía decir: I’m just so into the music”, cuenta Heather. [EN] Ward began in the visual-arts world, singing at gallery openings before studying jazz in Vancouver. Today, she performs, teaches, and mentors across the Pacific Northwest. In Gilded & Silver, you can still feel that dual perspective, the curiosity of someone who keeps searching, and the calm of someone who’s learned to be thankful for the path.

[EN] Heather Ward is a Canadian-born jazz singer who has been based in Seattle since 1997. She studied at Vancouver Community College and Capilano University and has trained with artists such as Hugh Fraser, Sheila Jordan, and Jay Clayton. Alongside her work as a performer, she teaches voice and regularly appears in jazz clubs and theatres throughout the Pacific Northwest. Her music blends precision with warmth, and always, a deep respect for where jazz comes from.
