During the pandemic, they left Toronto and settled in rural New Brunswick, surrounded by forests and skies untouched by city lights. That isolation brought both challenges and inspiration. “The word ‘rebirth’ pops into my head, because this feels like the next chapter,” Lisa says. Terry adds: “We learned to work together again, from a place of love and respect.”

MUTE grew out of a period of distance, illness, and reflection. After the cycle of their 2015 album Goodbye Mine, plans for a follow-up were halted by the pandemic and Lisa’s battle with COVID. Life pushed them to pause, move, and reassess. Out of that pause came a new start.

MUTE is only the beginning. Lost & Profound plan to release more singles leading toward a new album, this time with their son’s collaboration shaping the sound. And though the silence lasted nearly a decade, the wait was worth it: this return doesn’t echo the past —it looks toward a future full of layers, subtleties, and truth.
