The legendary Florida metalcore band hit the city to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their seminal album The Opposite of December… A Season of Separation. This wasn’t just another show—it was the final stop on their North American tour, with none other than Better Lovers (the explosive new supergroup featuring ex-members of Every Time I Die, The Dillinger Escape Plan, and Fit for an Autopsy) opening the night.

Este show fue la última fecha en su tour por Norteamérica, donde tuvieron como teloneros a Better Lovers (la super propuesta de ex miembros de Every Time I Die, The Dillinger Escape Plan y Fit for an Autopsy).

What started as a typical early-summer day in Canada quickly turned dramatic: skies darkened, sudden downpours crashed down, and wild winds swept through the streets outside the Danforth Music Hall. But no storm was strong enough to keep the crowd away. Hundreds lined up under the chaos, ready to dive into an evening of raw, aggressive sound. The venue packed out with longtime fans and scene loyalists, all drawn by the legacy of a band that gave us genre-defining tracks like “Nerdy,” “Slice Paper Wrists,” and “Artist’s Rendering of Me.”

It’s no exaggeration to say that witnessing Ryan Primack (guitar), Chris Hornbrook (drums), and Jeffrey Moreira (vocals) live feels like a privilege. Standing before the architects of a sound that carved out its own place in metal, one can’t help but recognize the unique blend of intensity and artistry they brought to the genre. Poison the Well didn’t just play metal—they wove in elements of hardcore with such finesse that even the scene’s purists had to take notice. This is a band that commands respect—trailblazers who helped define an authentic, heartfelt sound in the midst of chaos. Their music, though ferocious, is punctuated by melodic threads that, at times, cross over into something heartbreakingly poetic.
No es exagerado decir que ver en vivo a Ryan Primack (guitarrista), Chris Hornbrook (baterista), y Jeffrey Moreira (vocalista), parece un privilegio cuando se está en frente a los autores de un estilo único del metal, donde bien supieron agregar elementos del hardcore que, hasta los puristas de la escena, no pueden pasar desapercibido. PTW es una banda que merece respeto y todo el crédito de la creación de un sonido auténtico y genuino en medio de un estruendo que, con melodías vocales, a veces se transforma en poesía desgarradora.

This wasn’t just a tribute to a single album—it was a celebration of an entire movement. A nod to the late ’90s and early 2000s, when a new wave began reshaping metal into something more dynamic and emotionally charged. Poison the Well stood at the heart of that transformation, ushering in an era where sonic brutality could coexist with melodic subtlety in the most exhilarating ways.
Su presentación fue sobria pero impecable. Y como es lógico, interpretaron en su mayoría canciones del “Opposite of December”, pero también algunas del disco “You come before you”, y su más reciente material lanzado hace tan solo un par de meses. Esta fue una celebración que rindió tributo, no solo a un album en específico, sino a todo un movimiento emergente de finales de los 90, y comienzos del 2000, que trajo consigo la transformación del metal y la evolución de un género que ahora permite una combinación exquisita del salvajismo sonoro y la sutileza melódica.
