No todo lo que sube al escenario en Rock al Parque viene a buscar la luz. Algunos proyectos emergen desde las sombras, arrastrando consigo un eco ancestral. Somberspawn es uno de ellos.Formado en Bogotá en 2018, este grupo de blackened death metal no es para almas tímidas. No se trata solo de tocar fuerte. Es abrir portales. Es invocar. Es incomodar al cuerpo y a la conciencia. Llegan a tronar. A recordarnos que la música también puede doler. Que hay belleza en el caos, en la destrucción, en lo oscuro.
Not everything that rises to the stage at Rock al Parque comes seeking the light. Some projects emerge from the shadows, dragging with them an ancestral echo. Somberspawn is one of them.
Formed in Bogotá in 2018, this blackened death metal group is not for the faint of heart. It’s not just about playing loud. It’s about opening portals. Invoking. Disturbing the body and the mind. They arrive to thunder. This is to remind us that music can also hurt. That there’s beauty in chaos, in destruction, in darkness.

Con Inumbrate (2020), su álbum debut, dejaron claro que no eran una banda más del circuito local. Su sonido era más denso, más trabajado, más consciente. Con Invocate (2024), su segundo trabajo discográfico, confirmaron que no pasarían desapercibidos. Riffs afilados, estructuras complejas, atmósferas inquietantes y una lírica que se mueve entre lo esotérico, lo filosófico y lo infernal.
With their debut album, Inumbrate (2020), they made it clear they weren’t just another local act. Their sound was denser, more refined, and more deliberate. With Invocate (2024), their second full-length, they proved they wouldn’t go unnoticed. Sharp riffs, complex structures, unsettling atmospheres, and lyrics that navigate between the esoteric, the philosophical, and the infernal.
El sencillo “Fallen, Banished & Reviled”, inspirado en los monólogos malditos de The Omen III, es un descenso directo al núcleo de su visión. Rebeldía cósmica, nihilismo existencial, belleza disonante. Aquí, el metal extremo se convierte en un vehículo de exploración interior. Escucharlos no es fácil. Pero eso es precisamente lo que nos parece más interesante.
The single “Fallen, Banished & Reviled,” inspired by the cursed monologues of The Omen III, goes straight to the heart of their vision. Cosmic rebellion, existential nihilism, dissonant beauty. Here, extreme metal becomes a vehicle for inner exploration. Listening to them isn’t easy. But that’s precisely what makes it compelling.
En vivo, son otra cosa. Lo decimos con conocimiento de causa. Verlos sobre el escenario es asistir a un ritual. Uno que no entretiene, sino transforma. Su presencia impone. Su sonido consume. En escena no hay show. Hay trance. Y en Rock al Parque 2025, prometen una de las experiencias más viscerales de esta edición.
Live, they’re something else entirely. We say this from experience. Seeing them on stage is like witnessing a ritual. One that doesn’t aim to entertain but to transform. Their presence is imposing. Their sound consumes. There’s no show. There’s a trance. And at Rock al Parque 2025, they promise one of the most visceral experiences of the festival.
Esto no es solo un grupo con técnica y brutalidad. Es una manifestación artística con identidad. Una visión cohesionada, profunda y pensada en cada detalle. Lo sonoro, lo visual, lo lírico. Ver propuestas así devuelve algo de esperanza en la escena metalera del país. Colombia siempre ha tenido calidad, autenticidad y una sensibilidad única para confrontar el lado oscuro. Pero en algún momento, el relevo generacional se estancó. Y no por falta de talento, de hecho, Somberspawn reúne integrantes de proyectos respetados como Aire Como Plomo y Nonsense Premonition. El problema va más allá. Parte del público sigue resistiéndose a abrirle espacio a lo nuevo, a lo diferente, a lo arriesgado.
This isn’t just a group with technique and brutality. It’s an artistic statement with a clear identity. Sound, visuals, and lyrics reflect a cohesive, deep vision. Seeing acts like this restores some hope in Colombia’s metal scene. A scene that has always had quality, authenticity, and a unique sensitivity for confronting the darkness. But at some point, the generational relay got stuck. Not for lack of talent. Somberspawn includes members of respected projects like Aire Como Plomo and Nonsense Premonition. The issue lies elsewhere. Part of the audience still resists giving space to new, different, riskier voices.
Por fortuna, todavía surgen formaciones que no quieren repetir la fórmula. Prefieren romperla y forjar su propio molde. Somberspawn nos recuerda que el metal de verdad no es solo un género. Para muchos (me incluyo), es una necesidad vital.
Thankfully, acts still don’t want to repeat the formula. They want to break it and forge their mould. Somberspawn reminds us that real metal isn’t just a genre. For many of us it’s a vital need.
