“Malvada”, the latest release from Nuevos Ríos, is built around a Pacific coast rhythm that opens to other sounds without losing its roots. Percussion holds the center, while marimba, low keys, and voices settle around it on the same level. Traditional elements and electronic textures appear together from the start, as part of a single sonic decision.

The song moves in circles. The rhythm returns, holds its ground, insists. It does not aim for tension or a high point. It stays where it is. “Malvada” does not tell a closed story. It leaves fragments, loose images, a mood that remains throughout the track.

Everything happens within that constant movement, and by the end, you realize the song did not need to go anywhere else. Inspired by the ambivalent figure of La Malvada, it leaves you wanting to come back and pay attention to what the group does next.

About Nuevos Ríos

Nuevos Ríos is a project born in Colombia’s Pacific region, with roots in the Timbiquí area.
